Sheridan Police Department presents National Night Out 2017

Once again National Night out will be held at the Sheridan Municipal Building Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

For the past 10 years the Citizens of Sheridan have joined in this national effort to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie. Once again Residents will be able to enjoy the festivities along with free food, fun and entertainment for all. 

The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from 9,500 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian Cities and military bases worldwide. 

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

In 1984 National Night Out was created by the National Association of Town Watch as an attempt to build neighborhood spirit and reinforce relationships with police.
