Division Responsibilities
The Public Works Department is responsible for the repair and upkeep of the Municipal Center. This includes building maintenance and repairs, such as all heating and ventilation equipment. Additionally, the department maintains the lawn area around the Municipal Center. Like most of the residents in the city, water for the lawn is provided by the Denver Water Department. The city complies with Denver watering restrictions.
When snow removal is completed on the city streets, the Public Works Department then removes the snow from the driveways, parking lot, and sidewalks surrounding the Municipal Center. Other grounds that the department helps maintain include the fire station on Hamilton Place and the Street Shop.
